  • Every year, as the girls promote to a new grade, we have a little celebration.

It's just a snack, we sing, and they get a little inexpensive treat.

    1

This year was my first time to make a pie!

    We sang:
    Happy Promotion to you;

    Happy Promotion to you;

    Happy Promotion Dear Madi & Sarah;

    Happy Promotion to you!!!!!

And we told them HOW PROUD OF THEM WE ARE!!!!

    ....then time for pie!....

    2

Madi makes the funniest faces for her pictures sometimes, it makes me laugh :)

    4

Sarah Faith having her celebration pie!

    3

Hannah Joy joining in the celebration!

    5

    ... and this is Mommy's!....

    Mmmm, it was delicious!

Daddy had some later and said it was delicious too!

Now he wants me to make a cherry pie!

The girls each chose a little inexpensive "prize" at the Dollar Store.

(Hannah got one too! :) )

    A Thankful Mommy, Cass

  • Please PRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sweet baby girl, Hope, has swine flu.  I wish I was there to take care of her.  It's so hard to be away from her when she's so sick.  Please pray it gets better and not worse and that she would be healed in the name of Jesus Christ.

Please pray for my niece, Bella Grace, who is my sister, Nicole's newborn baby.  She is in the hospital and has been for a few days.  Please pray God touches her and heals her from her head to her toes.

    With love and appreciation, Cass

  • Today I made my FIRST PIE! =)

I have been wanting to do this for quite a while!

    Today, I DID IT!  :)

I hope it will taste good.  We're using it for the girls promotion into the next grade celebration tonight with ice cream!  Yummmy!!!!  :)

    1

First I'm letting my "pre bought" crusts get to room temperature. (takes 15 mins)

    2

I have all my stuff set out and ready!

    3

Wow, I can open a can of peaches!  LOL!

    4

Cutting up the peaces to smaller sizes.  They were in halves.

    5

I hope that works out nicely.

    6

Seperate the peaches from the juice.

To the juice, add:  1 cup sugar as I am doing here.

    7

    This is so fun!

    8

Then add 2 TBS of cornstarch to thicken it.

    9

This one is just for "Aunt Ruthie" and "Beulah!"  LOL! :)

Madi Grace laughed so hard!  (She was my photographer!)

    10

OK back to business ;)   Add 1/8 tsp nutmeg

    11

    Add 1/8 stick butter

This is what it all looks like added together.

    12

Cook on low until it thickens.  Then, add your peaches back in.

    13

We love lots of pictures, can't yall tell?

    14

Still cooking to get it to thicken...

    15

Placing my bottom crust in my pan...

    16

    Wow, that was easy! ;)

    17

Cutting out hearts from my top crust.

2 reasons - it will be pretty :) and it allows the steam to come out while cooking.

    18

Oh, what a blessing to make a pie for my family!

    19

Here's the yummies to pour in!

    20

    Pie, oh my!  Yummy Pie!

    21

"Fluting" the edges of my crust, or trying to!  That part was hard and I didn't do so well!

Practice will make it better!  :)

    22

..here it is before it goes into the oven...

    23

Oh yeah, I brushed milk over it as one of my "Sugar Pie Sistas" suggested..

and sprinkled some sugar on top as she suggested as well.

    24

This is supposed to help the crust be crunchier, I think she said ;)

    25

Edges getting dark, time to cover them with foil.

This happened quickly so watch that pie like a hawk!

    26

That was a pain to get that on there right!  LOL

    27

The pie is DONE!  At least I think/hope it is!!!!

    28

    I made my FIRST PIE!

I hope it blesses my sweet family!

A happy, thankful, loving mommy, Cass :)

  • Hannah to the doctor then the hospital...

Hannah Joy is 3 1/2 years old and not saying many words so we went to the pediatrician to find out more.

He gave her a full check up and her diagnosis is "Expressive Language Delay."

One of the main causes is a malignant brain tumor so she went in for a CT scan.

Since annurisms are hereditary and run in my family (remember my mother had one rupture and she's the 4th in our family to have one rupture, 2 died and 1 was left a "vegetable".. My Mom is a miracle!!!!!!) so they checked for that as well.

Her brain is perfect.  It's perfectly developed.  There's no tumors, no annurisms, nothing.

    PRAISE THE LORD!

So, she will need speech therapy AND they are setting her up with a group to do a full developmental work up on her.

We are using Baby Bumble Bee as one program to help her.

    She is improving some already!

She's soooooo precious to us!  We're thankful everything seems okay!

    1

This is before the DR appt.

She's modeling the outfit Big Daddy and MiMi got her for her birthday!

    2

    Love that SMILE!!!!

    3

Even her shoes matched this outfit perfectly, lol

    4

    ....waiting at the DR office....

    5

    .....still waiting.......

    6

    ......and more waiting......  LOL

    7

She's mad because she wants to run around and I want her to stay put.

    A JOYFUL, THANKFUL Mommy!  Cass

  • Blessings Abound!

Tonight my husband brought me roses!  He normally sends them but we are on a tight, tight budget so he bought some and brought to me.  I needed a vase so he gave me a little money to go to Michael's and get a vase!  I got there and found just what I wanted.  It wasn't marked and I knew it would be out of my budget but I went to the cashier to find out.

She rang it up and it rang up one penny.  She said, "oh these are discontinued.  We can't sell it.  We are throwing them away tonight."  The manager beside her said, "if you want it .. it sells for $35.00 but you can have it for $2."  YES I WANT IT!!!!  And I got 3 more that were a tiny bit smaller.  The one for the flowers is GIANT.  The other 3 are LARGE.  They sell for $29.99.  But for ALL FOUR of them I spent $8 and tax.  I had enough left to buy the cookbook I've been wanting SOOOOOOOOO badly!  Paula Deen's, "The Deen Family Cookbook."  It was on sale dirt cheap too so I got that.

I just feel sooooo incredibly blessed!  SO BLESSED!  My heart is overflowing!

I can't help but feel the Lord laid those items in my path.

They were PRECISELY what I wanted so badly, had even looked at on amazon last night just to see.... and then to find them today SO CHEAP I could get them?!!!

    PURE BLESSING!
    Now, for the pictures!

Thank you to my WONDERFUL, LOVING husband for the gorgeous roses.  I hope I did an okay job arranging them.  I need practice at it.  I love you so much!

  • Adding a Touch of Fall to our Little Home :)

With all the buzz about Fall and everyone getting out their Fall goodies, I had to follow in line.

Here are a few things we have out so far to usher in the season.  :)

    1

This adorable pumpkin is medium-large.  It says, "Welcome Friends" and I love it!

    2

Hanging behind our dinner table is this HUUUUGE leaf that says, "Give Thanks"

    4

and then an adorable pot holder with embroidered pumpkins!

    I'm on a budget, remember :)

    5

Tonight I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a bundle of flowers, some earth toned rocks and a sugar pourer that I used for the vase.  I thought it turned out very cute!

    6

Here's an upclose of the little sugar jar and the pretty rocks..

    7

and the arrangement has a new home on my stove  :)

Since I am now cooking every night, I will need to move it every day then put it back but I won't mind a bit because after I clean off the stove it will put a fresh touch of Fall there to make us all smile.  :)

I am happily ushering in the FALL season!  Are the rest of you?

    Love, Cass

  • I am *SO* PROUD of Madi Grace!!!!!!!!!!! :D

For the girls trip on the airplane their Nonna and Papaw (Kenny's parents) gave each girl a book.  They really enjoyed them on the plane.

Madi's book was "Little Women".  I told her when she finished reading it she could bake muffins all on her own.  Well, she finished it in a week and LOVED it.

So tonight, we ordered the 2nd one and we made her muffins!  SHE made her muffins!

    1

She put on an apron and posed for a picture with the first novel she had read.

She's 8 years old.  I'm really proud of her!

    2

    She loves to pose!

    3

Sarah Faith and Hannah Joy turned the chair around facing the kitchen to watch the show begin!

    4

Madi Grace chose TWO kinds of muffins to make.

    Banana Nut & Chocolate Chip.

She wanted to be sure she had some for EVERYONE to like!

That was a big deal to her!  She is so thoughtful!

    5

She's measuring out her 1/2 cup of water.. very carefully.

    6

Pouring the water into her mix...

    7

    Stirring with a SMILE!

    8

Very tediously and perfectly filling each muffin tin cup.

    9

    She did a WONDERFUL JOB!!!!

    10

The proud COOK!  They are all ready.

    11

...letting them cool... the kids were patiently (ha ha) waiting...

    12

    Now, to enjoy them!

    13

    All smiles!

    14

The chef herself enjoying hers!  Yummy!

Look at that face, she tickles me!

Daddy and I enjoyed one too!

She did a fabulous job and had a great time doing it!

She has decided after the 2nd novel she will bake brownies.

    A BLESSED, THANKFUL MOMMY!  Cass

  • ~ This Week ~

(There are still MANY posts from our Texas visit coming... but I am breaking to catch up from this week on here...)

    Smiles!

    1

This is a BEAUTIFUL teacup trivet that my mother in law so sweetly gave to me to display on this little easel also from her.  I had asked a couple members of my family to send us back home with a little something from their home to bring home closer to us.  I had said for it to be nothing major.  Well, she heard me commenting on how much I liked this and when I opened what she gave to me, this is what she had given.  I was so grateful.  I truly believe God is starting a new chapter for my mother in law and I to become much closer.

    2

Here is Miss Hannah Joy.  Since she still sleeps in our room (in her own bed) we put her to bed in the recliner that she used to always fall asleep in each night.  She holds "Puppy" and watches her speach learning videos until it's time for us to go to bed or until she konks out!

    3

She loved her Sloppy Joes so much she ate the whole thing!

    That's a lot for her!!

    4

    Madi Grace enjoying her dinner!

I've been cooking something every night.  I'm loving it!

    5

Sarah Faith so cute giving the sign language for "I love you."

She was enjoying dinner as well.

The whole family has loved that I've been cooking every night, including me!

    6

Hannah Joy loves hats and this is her new favorite one.  It's a Baby LuLu hat.

I got it at a resale shop back home and she loves it.  I knew she would!

    7

Just a snap shot of all 3 blessings.

    I wish Hope were here!

    A THANKFUL MOMMY!!  Cassidy
